Washington D.C –
Pentagon reminding the consequences of the attack plan Russia to Ukraine would be terrible. The Pentagon confirmed that there would be destruction and enormous human casualties if the attack did occur.
As reported by AFP, Saturday (29/1/2022), the Pentagon revealed the horrors that would occur if a full-scale attack by Russian forces on Ukraine was actually carried out. Joint Chief of Staff Mark Milley, said a horrific incident would have occurred if the attack had been properly unleashed.
“If it were released in Ukraine, it would be significant, very significant, and would result in a large number of casualties,” said Mark Milley.
“And you can imagine what it would be like in a congested urban area, along roads and so on. It would be terrible, it would be terrible.”
In line with Milley, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin asked that the conflict in Ukraine be avoided through diplomacy. However, he understands that Russian President Vladimir Putin has amassed more than 100,000 troops along their common border.
“Conflict is inevitable. There is still room and time for diplomacy,” Austin said.
“Mr Putin can also do the right thing, there is no reason that this situation should turn into a conflict. He can choose to reduce tensions. He can order his troops to leave,” he said.
The two top US military officials, who have been silent in recent days over rising tensions in Eastern Europe, have been forced to make public appearances. They argued there was no sign of a breakthrough in diplomatic efforts to avoid open conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
