The Pentagon’s Force Protection Agency said Officer George Gonzalez received the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Iraq. He was described as “a staunch Yankees fan” from Brooklyn, New York, graduated from Canarsie High School and joined the Pentagon police force in 2018.
In a series of tweets, the agency said: “As a Pentagon Police Officer, you took seriously our mission to” protect those who protect our nation. He was promoted twice and reached the rank of senior officer in 2020. A sociable officer, he was well liked and respected by his peers. “
The agency further tweeted: “As a military and law enforcement veteran, Officer Gonzalez had previously served in the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Transportation Security Administration, and the United States Army. He received the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Iraq”.
“Officer González embodied our values of integrity and service to others. As we mourn the loss of Officer González, our commitment to serve and protect is stronger. Officer González’s family is in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.” .
