The published documents are dated March 1. They do not contain specific combat plans, they do not talk about the date and place of the future counteroffensive, but they contain information about how many brigades Ukraine plans to prepare for the offensive and how much equipment it will receive. They also contain information about how much HIMARS ammunition is spent daily. The Pentagon is investigating who may have been behind the leaked documents.
“We are aware of the reports of social media postings and the department is looking into the matter,” Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said.
Military analysts said the released documents appear to have changed in some parts. They overestimated American estimates of Ukrainian military dead and underestimated the number of Russian military killed. This may indicate an attempt at disinformation by Moscow.
