Pentagon assesses its networks for possible damage after cyberattack against Microsoft – Diario Digital Nuestro País




WASHINGTON, Mar 5 (Sputnik) .- The Defense Department is currently evaluating whether its networks were damaged in the attack carried out days ago against Microsoft’s email service, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Friday.

“We are currently evaluating our networks for any evidence (of having been damaged),” said the spokesman at a press conference.

Kirby added that the department is taking all necessary steps to identify and resolve any issues related to this situation.

The Microsoft company reported Tuesday that cyber attackers “supported by the Chinese government” took advantage of previously unknown weaknesses in its server to gain access to information from various US organizations on infectious disease research, legal firms, universities. , Defense contractors, analytical centers and non-governmental organizations.
