With lectures, dissemination of preventive videos and the lighting of its headquarters in pink, Penta Medical Studies Center joins to promote for the eighth consecutive year information on Breast Cancer, in order to raise awareness about the importance of medical checks.
Like every October 19, the day on which the global fight against Breast Cancer is commemorated, Penta collaborates and commits to the community by developing and promoting various activities. For this, a program has been planned that proposes to involve both patients, doctors and the institution’s staff throughout the month.
“Wearing selected ones in pink is to spread the message of prevention, it is our purpose and commitment to our female patients,” said Dr. Sebastián Abalo, Penta’s Medical Director. Meanwhile, he stressed that the institution also joins the “Comodoro Rosa” Campaign promoted by Nancy Regina, given the impossibility of being able to carry out the emblematic career of women, a solidarity event that has led thousands of women to participate in order to raise awareness on the prevention of Breast Cancer and a better quality of life for women through good nutrition and systematic practice of physical activity.
On the other hand, for the community in general throughout the month there will be talks on preventive medicine and well-being by the interdisciplinary team of Penta who will provide data, advice and information on this pathology.
As, it seeks to generate preventive awareness in its work team through its “Soy Penta” program, from which it intends to carry out annual checks and generate witnesses to motivate other women to get checked.
How is breast cancer detected?
“Screening tests and exams are meant to find a disease in people who don’t have any symptoms. The earlier breast cancer is detected, the more likely it is that the treatment will be successful, ”informed Sebastián Abalo. Breast cancer is one of the few cancerous diseases that can be diagnosed early, that is, before any symptoms are noticed.
What happens in Argentina?
According to the incidence estimates of the WHO Global Cancer Observatory, breast cancer is the largest, with a volume of more than 21,000 cases per year, representing 17% of all malignant tumors and almost a third of those female cancers.
The current incidence is still 21 thousand cases, although thanks to the study methods the survival rate increased when the tumors were found in their curative stage.
