The official noted that targeted programs were introduced in two years and the government “significantly increased” pension payments.
“For now, at least up to 1 million people are being paid. But we have plans to change that,” Lazebnaya said.
The head of the Ministry of Social Policy recalled that in 2020, additional payments of 500 hryvnia were introduced for pensioners aged 80 years and older, and from October 2021, 75-year-old citizens began to receive an additional 400 hryvnia to their pensions.
“In a year, we will introduce such additional payments for those who are 70-75 years old,” the minister said.
According to Lazebnaya, in December this year for 65-year-olds with full work experience (35 years for men and 30 for women) the minimum pension will be increased from 2,400 hryvnias to 2,600 hryvnias.
The official complained about the nuance of the 2017 pension reform, when the mandatory indexation of pensions was canceled.
“It became selective, many pensions did not fall under indexation, instead of a coefficient of 1.35 for seniority, they began to use 1.0, increased requirements for seniority upon retirement, and much more. 4 million pensioners had pensions of less than 2 thousand hryvnia. COVID, the labor market is not in the best condition, “Lazebnaya said.
She also added that as of January 1, 2022, the average pension in Ukraine will be UAH 4,000.
