Mr. Principal:
In an effort to reach a consensus regarding the pension reform, and bearing in mind that the destiny
of 6% of additional quotation traps the possibilities of bringing positions closer, some sectors have indicated
that the possibility of creating longevity insurance should be studied.
Unfortunately, much of the discussion has focused on the difficulties in assessing the value of
a policy that guarantees the prolonged survival of people, focusing on internal reality
of our country. However, it is essential to remember that similar solutions have been successful in markets of-
developed, demonstrating the feasibility of affordable rates and beneficial results.
It is interesting to learn from successful practices in other places, since the implementation of insurance
of longevity could be a step forward in the pension reform in Chile, as it benefits all
involved.
Instead of focusing on potential difficulties, let’s open our minds to the possibilities that could
improve our pension system for the benefit of all Chileans.
