Pension Coup: Outrage in France | World | Deshabhimani

The protest of the labor unions intensified against the French government’s decision to overturn the Paris pension system. Eight major trade unions in the country have called for a national strike. With the widespread strike by railway workers, train traffic was also disrupted. Services to Britain and Switzerland and the Paris Metro service were severely affected by the strike. Heated discussions on the bill took place in Parliament. More than 20,000 amendment proposals were raised in a single day. Further amendments were proposed by the left wing Nups. The new bill will raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 by 2030.
