Pennsylvania law firm withdraws from Trump election campaign | Abroad

According to the law firm, the Trump campaign is looking for a new law firm. The lawsuit in question, filed Sunday in a federal court in Pennsylvania, revolves around the fact that, according to Trump, the postal voting system in that state “lacks all the guarantees of transparency and accountability that there are for voters going to the polling station.”

The law firm does not give a reason for the withdrawal from the election case. That, and other cases brought by the Trump campaign, are seen as contentious because Trump has not yet provided hard evidence for his claims that his Democratic challenger Joe Biden won the election using fraud.

Porter Wright has come under fire from Democrats and The Lincoln Project, a group of Republicans who want to get rid of Trump. The law firm said on Wednesday that it has “a long history” of work on elections for both Democrats and Republicans, “leading us to take controversial cases.”

Another office, Snell & Wilmer, withdrew from a Trump lawsuit in Maricopa Country (Arizona) on Wednesday. The Trump campaign alleges that votes there were falsely declared invalid.

“The president’s team is undaunted and will continue with rock-solid lawyers to ensure free and fair elections for all Americans,” a Trump campaign spokesman said in a statement.

Trump also backs down in Michigan

Trump has also suffered defeat in the state of Michigan in a lawsuit filed against the election results. His team wanted a judge in Michigan to prevent Joe Biden from being declared the winner in that state, but backed down.

The Trump camp demanded that it be verified first that all votes cast are legal. The Michigan state court denied that Friday.

The case was one of many legal steps taken by the Trump campaign in hopes of keeping the Republican president in power after his challenger Joe Biden was named the election winner. Courts in Michigan and Georgia have already declared inadmissible multiple lawsuits brought by the Trump campaign.

Lawsuit in Arizona dropped

US President Donald Trump’s campaign team is withdrawing an election lawsuit in the state of Arizona. The Trump campaign had filed the case over alleged irregularities in the state’s largest district, Maricopa County. There would have been many flaws in the voting machines, but in a session on Thursday it appeared that they played a role in only 191 votes.

The lawyer for Trump’s campaign team said in Phoenix Court on Friday that the number of votes involved makes the outcome of the lawsuit irrelevant to the final Arizona election results. Trump’s Democratic challenger Joe Biden has an 11,034 vote lead in Arizona.

“All parties recognize that voters who went to the polls, probably especially those who voted for Trump, have been banned from the electoral process due to their votes being invalidated by the voting machines,” the Trump campaign spokesman said in a statement. “So it is a shame that the Democrats are celebrating.” The spokesman said the campaign team “continues to consider President Trump’s options in Arizona.”
