Republican Trump’s campaign team wanted to prevent Pennsylvania, with 20 electors, from declaring the Democratic challenger the winner. The Trump campaign argues that the president has not been given a chance to adequately litigate against alleged large-scale electoral fraud by the Democrats.
Trump, as yet without proof, claims that tens of thousands of defective letter votes were falsely counted to help Biden win.
The confirmation of the Biden win in Pennsylvania is the latest in a string of defeats for Trump, who continues to refuse to acknowledge his loss. However, a number of things have now been set in motion to ensure that the planned transfer of power on 20 January runs as smoothly as possible. The president did not feel like this in recent weeks.
Trump’s team filed numerous lawsuits and demanded recounts and checks in several crucial states, but those did not bring him closer to a second term. The disputed ‘battlefields’ of Georgia and Michigan recently confirmed Biden’s victory. We still have to wait for Nevada, Arizona and Wisconsin. Biden would now have a total of more than 80 million votes, a few million more than Trump.
