Primark, known as Penneys in Ireland, has issued an urgent recall of two popular children’s plush bags due to a critically important safety risk. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) announced the recall, citing a potential choking hazard.
the recalled items are the DTR Plush Bag Stitch (model 2056301) and the DTR Plush Bag Angel (model 9270801). These bags were sold in Primark and Penneys stores across the UK and Ireland. The CCPC discovered that the zip puller on these bags can detach, posing a serious choking and ingestion risk to young children.
Approximately 1,519 affected bags were sold in the Republic of Ireland alone; the number sold in Northern Ireland remains unknown. The CCPC urges immediate action from parents and guardians.
“If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children,”
—The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC)
Parents who have purchased these plush bags are strongly advised to remove them from children’s reach immediately. A full refund is available at any Primark or Penneys store for the recalled items. This recall highlights the importance of regularly checking children’s toys and products for potential hazards.
This isn’t the only recent recall impacting children’s products. A separate recall was issued for a children’s costume due to a strangulation risk. The importance of product safety and vigilance cannot be overstated.
