Penalties and Fines for Violations in Egypt’s New Labor Law

In Egypt’s new labor law, a set of specific cases have been established that require the application of strict penalties and the imposition of large financial fines. These rules do not apply to all employees, but only to certain people:

The employee committed inappropriate actions during the work period. An employee was caught while intoxicated while performing his job duties. The employee was arrested after subjecting him to drug tests conducted by the government, if it was confirmed that he was using any type of drug.

The government enforces the new labor law aggressively in some cases. For example, if any employee commits behavior that violates workplace etiquette and honor, he or she can be fired permanently. If an employee stops performing his duties for more than 15 consecutive days or 30 non-consecutive days without acceptable cause, he or she may be fired.
