Peña Nieto and Lozoya have been targeted by AMLO by Odebrecht since 2017

In July 2017 when Andrés Manuel López Obrador was emerging as a candidate for the presidency, published a video on his YouTube account titled “Odebrecht: bribery and impunity”, In which he accuses that in the governments of Felipe Calderon and Enrique Peña Nieto the Brazilian company gave bribes to high-level officials.

The material indicates that Marcelo Odebrecht, one of the most powerful businessmen in Brazil and president of the company, was arrested in 2015 for passive corruption, money laundering and criminal association.

It indicates that before a New York court, the businessman and other Odebrecht executives admitted to having bribed government officials from 12 countries to obtain million-dollar contracts, including Mexican officials who between 2010 and 2014 were bribed with 10 million 500 thousand dollars.

“Under the noses of Calderón and Peña Nieto, contracts were signed that were advantageous for the company and public servants for the equivalent of 200 million pesos,” it is stated.

The video also indicates that in 2010 the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) detected irregularities in the contracts awarded to Odebrecht and despite this, Enrique Peña Nieto held a meeting with the Brazilian businessman, who told him about his investment projects in Mexico.

It also shows that while in other countries those involved are arrested and tried, Mexico declared the information classified.

Regarding Lozoya, he points out that he requested a bribe of 5 million dollars from Odebrecht in 2014 when he served as director of Pemex and that during his tenure he awarded the company contracts for 1,400 dollars for works in two refineries and a gas pipeline.

In April 2017, the name of Emilio Lozoya, former director of Petróleos Mexicanos, appeared linked to the Odebrecht case, because according to testimonies collected by the Supreme Court of Brazil, the company asked for 5 million dollars to give him a bribe in exchange for benefiting in this way to the construction company.

In the case of corruption involving senior Brazilian officials, the testimonies of three Odebrecht employees indicated the alleged involvement of the former CEO of Pemex in the network of illicit payments to officials.

For that year Lozoya denied to the press his participation in the case.
