Mexico City. In the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) will not only be strengthened and maintained as a public company, but will adapt to new global horizons so that the population has cheap and accessible energy, indicated Víctor Rodríguez Padilla, director of the oil company.
“The objective is clear: to consolidate this great institution as a modern entity, adapted to the present and, above all, to the future. The world has changed and Pemex will not be left behind. We will cover new horizons and together we will build Pemex Energía,” the official said in a letter sent to workers.
After highlighting that President Sheinbaum Pardo governs for the entire population of Mexican territory, Rodríguez Padilla commented that the state company must embark on “new paths,” which are a demand of both the people and the country.
“In this way we will face the challenge of climate change and the energy transition,” he said.
The official recalled that Pemex “is a public company at the service of the country and national interests,” so it will follow the guidelines of the National Development Plan, which he announced will be announced in the coming months.
He highlighted that together with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Pemex is a pillar that supports the national energy sector. Given this, it has “the responsibility of guaranteeing energy sovereignty and, at the same time, that the entire country is supplied with fuel and electricity, energy sources that must be increasingly cleaner and at accessible prices for the entire population.”
He recalled that during the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador the rescue of sovereignty began, with which “great achievements have been achieved and higher levels of economic, social and environmental development achieved.”
“We will continue with intelligence, courage and joy overcoming obstacles and restrictions,” he said.
“For six years, under the leadership of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Mexican government has worked tirelessly to rescue sovereignty and put Pemex on its feet,” he insisted.
The official called on workers to work “side by side,” with the support of the federal government and the people of Mexico to move forward.
“With the Union of Petroleum Workers of the Mexican Republic (STPRM) and its leader, Engineer Ricardo Aldana, we will have a relationship of collaborative synergy. We will always be open to dialogue. Freedom of association is a fundamental principle,” he said.
“It has been six years of struggle and commitment in an adverse environment. We will continue the task by redoubling our efforts,” he said.
The general director of Pemex also indicated that the state company is in permanent synchronization with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) and with the Ministry of Energy (SENER).
