Following war between Russia and Ukraine, gas costs have risen significantly and these increases have inevitably had an impact on consumers gas bills. Therefore, it is feared that there will be further shocks also in view of the winter season, where consumption will rise significantly.
The economic crisis, in this sense, has also affected the pellet sector, as – compared to 2021 – the costs of biomass have tripled, doing some simple calculations. Furthermore, it must be considered that you risk a fine of 5000 euros if you do not carry out a certain action related to the pellet stove. Let’s find out together what it is.
The swing in pellet prices
There has been an increase in the price of pellet. In 2021, in fact, a 15 kg bag cost only 5 euros. In 2022, however, it cost as much as 15 euros, even if – in 2023 – the cost dropped again.
Biomass, however, despite the fluctuating prices, is the material preferred by Italians when it comes to heating.
A topic which, with the arrival of the winter season, will concern millions of citizens who have opted for the pellet stove. It should be known, however, that – every year – these systems must be subjected to mandatory checksturning to specialized technicians and registered with the Chamber of Commerce.
Pellet stove, the obligations to be fulfilled
The maintenance of the pellet stove is mandatory by law. The system in question, in fact, must be subjected to rigid controls that certify its proper operation. A requirement which, if not carried out, could cause us to face one fine which can reach up to 5,000 euros.
In order to avoid a similar outlay, therefore, it is necessary to take into consideration the legal provisions regarding the maintenance of the pellet stove, which must be carried out at the beginning of the winter season.
This way, you will know, in advance, the level of efficiency of this plant. Furthermore, the pellet stove must be subjected to a meticulous cleaning.
Among the obligatory operations, we find the check the seals and the related estate, the cleaning the chimney (which must comply with the legislation UNI 10683), the sealing of cracks possibly present, the elimination of residues of the internal parts, as well as the smoke emission control and electromechanical components. The results that emerge are then recorded in a maintenance report that the technician issues to the owner.
If the competent authorities, during the inspection, find the owner without a booklet certifying the mandatory inspection, they can impose a fine ranging between 500 and 3000 euros.
