At the return moment, Water Lamp added three new routes to the island of Sumatra. The cities in question are Palembang, Pekanbaru, and Padang.
It is known that in April 2022, Pelita Air started its first scheduled flight to Bali on the Jakarta-Bali route using 2 Airbus A320 aircraft.
Service Water Lamp which is in the middle between Citilink and Garuda Indonesia, as fellow BUMNs, they are in great demand. Good demand was welcomed by the company by increasing the frequency to five times a day.
“After that we opened the Jakarta-Yogyakarta route, followed by Jakarta-Surabaya. And on April 12, 2023, Pelita Air will open flights to three cities at once, namely Jakarta-Palembang, Jakarta-Padang, and Jakarta-Pekanbaru,” said the Managing Director. Pelita Air Dendy Kurniawan told reporters, Monday (10/4/2023).
“Even though we are only flying in the next few days, the bookings on our website are fairly good. There are even days that are fully booked. So there is high enthusiasm,” he said.
Furthermore, Dendy explained that this year Water Lamp will bring another 18 Airbus A320 aircraft. Meanwhile the 6-10 aircraft have been obtained and are just waiting for their arrival.
“We are still focusing on domestic first. So there are no plans to expand flights overseas. And all of our aircraft are of the same type to facilitate pilot certification and others, such as spare parts,” he explained.
Pelita Air claims to have served 270 thousand passengers with the previous four routes. And, the opening of this new route is indeed to serve the surge in demand when the homecoming moment has arrived.
Currently, Pelita Air has controlled 9% market share of Indonesia’s domestic routes. The company is optimistic that it can increase it to 12.5% in 2026.
Please also note that Water Lamp don’t sell cheap tickets. Dendy said that the plane tickets were affordable or affordable, which were adjusted to the services provided for passengers.
