Pelé’s Will and Inheritance: Judge Validates Notary Notes and Executor Appointed

The judge highlighted that the will was drawn up on notary notes that bear public faith, in clear compliance with the formalities of the civil code.

José Fornos Rodrigues, known as Pepito, Pelé’s faithful squire throughout his life and career, was appointed executor, following a recommendation from Márcia accepted by the court. He agreed to a 5% premium on his ex-wife’s assets.

Marcia, who is his testamentary heir, will be entitled to 30% of all of Pelé’s assets, including a property in Guarujá. The King’s descendants will be entitled to the remainder – among them, Sandra Nascimento’s children, whom he had never recognized.

Pelé left behind 6 other children – Kelly, Jennifer, Edson Cholbi, Joshua, Celeste and Flavia. The will still leaves open the possibility of another daughter, in a legal process taking place in the São Paulo Courts.

The will will be validated and effective even if the existence of a new heir is confirmed, “and the rules of expiry should not be applied, as whatever the result, it does not change the will of the testator”.

Luiz Kignel, Marcia’s lawyer, confirmed to the column that the will was approved in court and added that there was no contestation of its validity by anyone involved. He emphasized that the process is confidential.
