Football striker Tomáš Pekhart arranged the Legion of Warsaw 4-0 on the Zaglebie Lubin field in the 22nd round of the Polish league with four goals. The Czech national team scored the first three goals in 13 minutes. The stopper Michal Frydrych was also among the shooters, who with a decisive goal from the penalty helped Wisla Kraków to win 3: 1 over Stal Mielec.
The 31-year-old Pekhart opened the goal list in the sixth minute with a penalty. After 19 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 – 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by a scorer. He set the final result in the 63rd minute. The defending champion of the Legia title won the league for the fifth time in a row and has a seven-point lead over Szczecin at the top of the table.
Former Slavia, Sparta, Jablonec and Nuremberg players Pekhart, who is not missing in the national team’s nomination for the opening three qualifying duels to advance to the World Cup, scored the same number of goals in 19 matches this league season and leads the gunners’ table by nine goals.
According to the club website, Pekhart became the first Legion player since 1968 to score four times in a league match. In addition, only eight other players in the club’s history managed to score four goals in the competition duel, the last time Piotr Wlodarczyk did it in 2005. Pekhart is the first foreigner in the history of a team from the Polish capital to boast of this performance.
