Peel Complete – 7 Cases of Measles Found in Bandar Lampung Throughout 2022

Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung – Plt. Head of the Bandar Lampung City Health Service (Dinkes), Desti Megaputri revealed, out of a total of 136 samples that were examined throughout 2022, 7 of them tested positive for measles.

“Seven cases of measles were positive. From the results of the samples received, the age of those affected by measles was between 2 years and 18 years,” said Desti, when questioned, Tuesday (24/1/2023).

According to him, the cause of measles itself is a viral infection from the Paramyxovirida family and the rubella virus. “Which usually the symptoms in children are fever, body rash or red spots, coughing to runny nose,” he said.

With this case, continued Desti, his party also carried out various prevention efforts, including outreach and promotion of health about diseases that could be prevented by immunization to the public.

Then carry out routine immunizations for infants, toddlers including catch-up immunization and National Childhood Immunization Month (BIAN) for measles for 1st grade school children and the equivalent.

“Then take samples of suspected measles children to be sent to the provincial health office and then proceed to the center,” he explained.

In addition, his party urged parents to complete immunizations for infants, toddlers and school-age children.

“If you get a child with symptoms of fever, red rash, immediately go to the nearest health center for treatment and for school children it’s best to take a day off to prevent transmission. Then we also ask them to always apply clean and healthy living habits,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, related to the Lampung Provincial Health Office, it was reported that in Bandar Lampung there were 94 cases of measles. According to Desti, the data for the 94 cases in the province is not a positive sample for measles.
