The Governing Council held yesterday led to the appointment of Pedro Suárez as president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a position he already held between September 2018 and October 2019.
Graduated in Business Sciences from the University of La Laguna (ULL), Suárez López de Vergara is also a technician in Operational Marketing from the School of Marketing and Administration of Barcelona. Among other positions, he has been general director of Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands and has been part of the Executive and Plenary Committees of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Member of the popular parliamentary group after the elections held in May, he is a member of bodies such as European Affairs and Foreign Action, Disability, Public Works, Transport and Housing, Ecological Transition, as well as Tourism and Employment.
In his previous inauguration of the position as head of the Port Authority, he stated that he could not conceive of a port and a port activity “without being linked to a city that has seen it born and grow”.
Pedro Suárez indicated at that time with respect to the rest of the ports on the islands of the province that he would pay full attention to all the future projects that they needed and that the local authorities would have him at their “entire disposal” to work for the “aspirations » of its ports.
In the same way, he highlighted the importance of nautical sports Since, from their point of view, it is a very important business niche, which is why the Atlantic stopovers for sailboats and boats that visit the ports of the province must continue to be promoted and developed.
The new president of the Port Authority replaces Carlos Enrique González, a Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a university expert in Integrated Coastal Zone Management from the University of Cantabria.
