Pedro Sánchez will build a prefabricated house within Moncloa (and will offer it to his Government partners) – idealista / news

La Moncloa will premiere 2021 with a makeover project. Coinciding with the first year as president of the elected Government, Pedro Sánchez wants to build a prefabricated house within the residential complex that can serve as temporary accommodation for the ministers of the coalition Executive. And there are rumors that the chosen location is where the paddle tennis court that was built during the stage of the popular José María Aznar is located.

Internal sources at La Moncloa assure idealista / news that “the president has been wondering for a long time how to solve the complications of prolonging the negotiations of the decrees, which has been occurring very frequently lately due to friction between the Ministries. What doesn’t make sense is that they leave at two in the morning and come back at eight. It is being spent on fuel and the drivers’ overtime. The money and time that ministers lose in reaching their homes are gold, and we are not here to waste it ”.

The plan of the chief executive goes through finance the construction with the European funds that Spain will receive (within the framework of the community program to face the coronavirus crisis), since it is a property that adapts to the efficiency and sustainability standards that Brussels wants to promote so much.

Instead, the fuel for official vehicles and the salary of the drivers are paid through public accounts, hence Sánchez’s insistence to find an alternative that allows the aforementioned saving of public resources. Also, with this plan wants to show that the Government does have plans that are in line with the rest of the EU, despite taking different economic measures from those of the main community partners.

Returning to the project of the prefabricated house, at the moment it is unknown where it could be built, although from an architecture office that the Government contacted to request a budget for the project and that prefers not to be cited, they comment that one of the locations being considered is the paddle tennis court that was installed during the José María Aznar stage. It was a gift that the son of the tenor Plácido Domingo made to the former popular president and its price was around five million peseta, as published by El Siglo. It is a large space that Pedro Sánchez’s family has not used since his arrival in Moncloa and where no major work would have to be done to start construction.

Several ministers have already communicated to Sánchez their predisposition to use the house, either as a specific resting place or to spend the night when the negotiation days are extended, while Several members of the Government who belong to Podemos have reportedly shown themselves against the initiative.

Sources from the party led by Pablo Iglesias maintain that “they only want to be in La Moncloa to negotiate the laws and show that they can convince the PSOE to make the changes that the people need, but that they have never wanted to be part of the caste and this is something the breed could accept”. In addition, they add, “our colleagues prefer to sleep less hours if this avoids joining one of the main trends in the real estate sector such as the construction of prefabricated buildings and industrialization, because if there is something the party is focused on is fighting against the vulture funds and everything that has to do with speculation in the brick.

Despite the reluctance of the ministers who belong to Podemos and their blockade against the real estate sector, Sánchez would already be looking for companies that could develop the project, convinced that with Christmas in between, he will be able to close ranks within the Government and break with the rumors that point to a growing internal division.

For now, the plans are to raise a two-storey house with about 150 m2 each, which would include a kitchen and a living area on the ground floor, as well as several bedrooms with a small bathroom ‘en suite’. In addition, it will have solar panels and other devices to reduce energy consumption and serve as an example to society when it comes to betting on sustainability.

As it is a prefabricated construction, the house could be ready in the first half of the year, although everything will depend on when the project is awarded, the final design and the specific budget that Moncloa is handling to carry it out.
