Today is a critical day for the political events in Spain as Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will announce whether or not he will resign following corruption charges against his wife, Begonia Gomet.
THE Pedro Sanchez had announced since last Wednesday that he was considering the possibility of resignation. Therefore, he canceled his schedule and announced that Monday (29/4) will be an announcement day.
In a message released via X, he said he wanted to consider whether he could continue his term under the burden of “non-existent charges”as he noted, but also the “mud unleashed by the right and the extreme right”.
Madrid’s public prosecutor’s office recommended last week that the preliminary investigation against Ms. Gomet be dropped.
Demonstrations in favor of Sanchez
The Weekend thousands of citizens gathered in its streets Madrid demonstrating in favor of the 52-year-old politician remaining at the helm of the Spanish government.
Holding banners and placards with slogans such as “don’t give up”, the protesters opened fire on the right and the far right, stressing that they are resorting to “blackmail” and “fake news” to topple him.
