The president of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terrones, announced a new vaccination strategy against COVID-19 to close gaps in all remote parts of the country. “Let’s go house to house“Said the president.
In statements to the press and during the supervision of the arrival of 2,862,500 vaccines from Sinopharm, the president indicated that a new inoculation strategy has been planned.
“This is called ‘Let’s meet you, Get vaccinated now’ … we will go house to house, to the populated centers, nothing will stop us from reaching the most remote and needy places”, he pointed.
Castillo added that the distribution of vaccines will be quick and timely in all regions of the country; in addition, he assured that there is a good rate of vaccination and delivery of doses.
“In Peru there is a coverage of 31% of the fully vaccinated population, a goal of 50% is reached before the arrival of the third wave”, he indicated.
Arrival of vaccines
This afternoon a new batch of 2,862,500 vaccines from Sinopharm arrived at the Jorge Chávez del Callao International Airport to continue with the vaccination days against COVID-19.
This arrival represents the highest number of doses that Peru has received in a single batch and with this there are 6’800,520 vaccines that have arrived in the country so far in September.
The previous arrival of vaccines to the country was on September 8 with an arrival of 362,400 doses of AstraZeneca through the Covax Facility mechanism, but previously another batch of Sinopharm also arrived in the country.
For this month, the arrival of more than 12 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 is expected, as announced by the Foreign Ministry of Peru.
