Bola.net – Even though he only finished in 9th position in the Qatar MotoGP Grand Prix race at the Circuit Lucail on Monday (11/3/2024) early morning WIB, Pedro Acosta felt very satisfied. The reason is, he was able to overtake many riders, and join in the race for the podium with eight-time world champion, Marc Marquez.
Starting from 8th position, Acosta slipped to 11th position at the first corner. However, in just two laps, this debutant rider was able to climb to 5th position, right behind Marquez. On Lap 12, Acosta even overtook the Gresini Racing racer to take 4th place and catch Jorge Martin.
Even so, on Lap 14, he went wide at Turn 12 so he was overtaken by Marquez. Since then, Acosta has continued to slow down, being overtaken by many racers so he had to be relieved to finish in 9th position. However, Acosta remains satisfied because he has gained a lot of experience and proven himself to be competitive.

“Doing the first race and overtaking so many people is the thing I like the most about this race. I was so close [dengan podium]. However, in the end I made a mistake, not everything can be that good. “I did the first lap in 11th position and within 10 laps I was in 4th position. So, I’m satisfied,” he said via GPOne.
This 19 year old racer also admitted that he liked all the overtaking actions he carried out against his seniors. The reason is, Acosta stated that he never had the confidence to overtake since competing in the Grand Prix in 2021, even though he successfully won the Moto3 and Moto2 world titles.
“I liked everything in general, because it was my first overtaking. I wasn’t too confident about overtaking in Moto3. I often overtook in Moto2 the way I wanted. However, it’s been three years since I wasn’t confident starting from behind and able to correct the position, and know everything is fine,” he confided.

The Red Bull GASGAS Tech 3 racer also commented on his battle with Marquez which only lasted four laps. According to him, the duration was sufficient, even though in the end the Spanish rider was overtaken again by his compatriot.
“Our battle went on for quite a long time. It was like losing my virginity, everything started well, but then it became a disaster,” joked Acosta, who was the second best KTM racer after Brad Binder, who finished second in this race.
“However, I am happy, having the first race by overtaking lots of people is what I enjoyed the most. Not only overtaking Marc, but also overtaking the others, while having a good rhythm,” concluded Acosta, who finished in 8th position in the Sprint race.
