Was courting without a car. Some dreamed of it, Montluçon will do it, on Saturday May 21. In partnership with the merchants of the boulevard, the city has decided to pedestrianize the loop, from the Faubourg Saint-Pierre to the rue des Forges, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This first edition of “Quartier libre” aims to promote commercial activity in a city center that is running out of steam.
This is a support event for small businesses. They were also force of proposal to animate this day.

A busy day
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., merchants will therefore offer many activities around their shops. The cafes, bars and restaurants will be able to extend their terraces, the Eco Bougnat and Candy Store will hold tastings, the Moderne, the Grinta, the Glacier and High Man will organize musical entertainment.

Jeff de Bruges has planned a contest to win a showcase, Eat-N-Go will sell waffles and cotton candy between lunch and dinner services and the author Catherine Beaugrand will be there for signings.
Some merchants have chosen to join forces, such as Brûlerie Bretonnie and Artémis Café, which will offer a roasting workshop from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a coffee tasting at 3 p.m., or Boudoir Calirose and Cloélie, which will present a parade common mode. “The fact that several players are coming together is a good thing. We want to federate thanks to this event, to have more impact”, advances Alric Berton.
Sweetness of life
The tourist office will install two workshops for the creation of cosmetics to prepare for Mother’s Day, within it. The price will be 35 euros per pair, young people must be accompanied by an adult. Road safety and Maëlis electric bike stands will also be there.
Saturday, May 21, it will be a car-free day on boulevard de Courtais in Montluçon (Allier)
This car-free day will also be an opportunity for the inhabitants of the boulevard to enjoy a calm day, without the noise of engines and untimely horns.
The latter have also received in advance the traffic arrangements made by the technical services, to facilitate their possible travel during the day.
We want to propose an improvement in the quality of life, that the people of Montluçon reclaim their city in a peaceful atmosphere.

For other road users, a traffic plan has been drawn up to free up this very busy boulevard without encroaching on everyone’s life. The operation will be repeated on Saturdays July 2, September 3 and October 1.
