Pedestrian assistants arrive in Milan, the first course begins

(ANSA) – MILAN, 04 MAY – They will monitor road crossings at risk, facilitating the transit of pedestrians: these are the pedestrian assistants who from Monday 6 May, European Road Safety Day, will attend the first training course for the establishment of the Pedestrian Assistant at the Local Police School in Milan. The project, which is called “Wheels stopped, pedestrians safe”, was conceived by the AFVS – Association of Family Members and Road Victims Ets – with the Municipality of Milan and sees employees employed as pedestrian assistants accused, investigated or sentenced to public utility works for the purposes of Probation or as a substitute penalty, for crimes mainly relating to road traffic. In the next few weeks, after training, around 30 assistants will enter into service, equipped with a high visibility harness, shovel and LED light. The project is totally financed by the Road Victims Fund, established by the association, and has received the patronage of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice and ANCI. (HANDLE).
