Marcus Pedersen has been making a big impression since his arrival at Feyenoord. The right back is a fixed value in Arne Slot’s team and even became an international for Norway. The Feyenoord player is now preparing for next Tuesday’s game against the Netherlands.
The Norwegians can still directly qualify for next year’s World Cup in Qatar with the draw of the Dutch national team in Montenegro. ”You gave us an early Christmas present”, Pedersen laughs in Rondo. ”I was very disappointed with our match against Latvia (0-0 draw, ed.), because I think we just had to win it. We deserved to win too. When we saw that the Netherlands were leading 2-0, we thought it would be difficult to qualify. In the end they still draw and that means there is still hope for us.”
If Norway wins against the Netherlands and Turkey draws or loses to Montenegro, it qualifies as group winner for the World Cup. ”We received an extra boost when the Netherlands drew a draw,” continues Pedersen, who has to play in an empty Kuip on Tuesday due to the measures in the Netherlands. Is that an advantage for Norway? “Yeah, that’s definitely an advantage. De Kuip is an attractive stadium, so it’s better for us if there are no fans.”
“The Feyenoord supporters are very good, they are great. But we will go for the win on Tuesday”, the Feyenoord player continues, who immediately indicates that he cannot speak Dutch yet. A windfall for the Orange: Erling Haaland is injured and can therefore not participate. “I’m trying to give him some pills so that he recovers extra quickly from his injury. Who knows, maybe he’ll play on Tuesday”, concludes Pedersen with a laugh.
