Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

A total of five protesters staged a protest at the border Lebanon-Israel was injured by tear gas and smoke bombs fired army Israel.

The report was revealed by the Lebanese state media National News Agency (NNA). The Lebanese protesters acted against Israeli air raids on Gaza Strip.

“A number of protesters climbed the concrete border fence, waved Hezbollah flags and banners and threw stones,” the NNA was quoted as saying. AFP, Tuesday (18/5).

Israeli military forces fired tear gas and smoke bombs leaving five demonstrators injured. However, the NNA did not specify whether the injured victims were Lebanese or Palestinian refugees.

Since last week, a series of protests along the Lebanese border have been staged in the wake of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza-a densely populated Palestinian pocket area.

The Gaza Health Ministry noted that at least 213 Palestinians died as a result of the airstrikes. Meanwhile 12 people died from the Israeli side due to the thousands of rockets fired by the militant group.

Earlier on Friday last week, a Lebanese demonstrator was killed by Israeli army gunfire after trying to cross the border fence into northern Israel.

Meanwhile on Monday, the Israeli army said it had launched artillery fire at Lebanon in response to rockets sent to its country.

The Lebanese army said Tuesday that 10 bullets and seven bombs had been fired by Israel at South Lebanon in response to the rocket attack – it was not clear which group it was from.

In southern Lebanon itself is the headquarters of Hezbollah – a group that fought a war with Israel in 2006.

However, Hezbollah, Israel’s arch enemy, has yet to respond to the attack. But a source close to the Iran-backed Shiite movement denied the attack had anything to do with Hezbollah.
