San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been nominated for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week award for Week 10. This follows his brilliant performance on Sunday where Pearsall was key to the 49ers’ victory in 23-20 over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pearsall scored his first career touchdown in that game with a 46-yard reception. He finished his day’s work with four receptions for 73 yards. Two of those receptions came on that last series where San Francisco managed to get in good area to kick the winning field goal.
The 49ers selected Pearsall out of Florida with the 31st pick in the first round this year in the NFL Draft. However, Pearsall had to go through a lot of adversity to be able to debut in the NFL between injuries and a terrible moment where he miraculously managed to survive after being shot and wounded in an attempted assault. Therefore, his first game in the league was until Week 7 and now in his third game with the 49ers he has already managed to contribute to the team’s victory. Pearsall is competing against five other rookies to be named Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week.
