Pearls of early music in the Stephanuskirche in Reutlingen – Reutlingen – Reutlinger General-Anzeiger

REUTLINGEN. The concert series “Musica Antiqua” invites you to travel into the musical past. For over three decades, the city of Reutlingen has been presenting masterpieces and rarities in this early music series – played by outstanding artists. The venue for the two summer concerts in August is the Stephanus Church in Sondelfingen, which, with its frescoes dating from the late Middle Ages and the historical ceiling paintings, offers the perfect setting for the guest performances.

In “Sounding Geography”, Clara Blessing with the baroque oboe and the harpsichordist Ralf Waldner invite you on Sunday, August 11th, at 11 a.m. to a musical summer journey with the music of Georg Philipp Telemann across Europe. From France to Poland, from Ireland to Italy, from Turkey to Germany: the geographical collection, created around the year 1700, with its country-specific musical styles and typical turns of phrase, shows the extraordinary talent of the young Telemann.

With viola da gamba and theorbo

Heidi Gröger and Christoph Sommer will perform works by French composers for viola da gamba and theorbo the following Sunday, August 18, at 11 a.m. Under the title “String Games in Versailles,” works by Marin Marais, Robert de Visée and Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe will be performed.

The viola da gamba and theorbo were among the most respected instruments in high society and were an indispensable part of the royal chambers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Although there was no agreement in France as to whether the viola da gamba or theorbo deserved the crown of instruments, what could be more beautiful than the harmonious interplay of the two – with some of the most exquisite compositions that their rich repertoire has to offer. As a special highlight, one of the rare original instruments by the Parisian master viola da gamba maker Nicolas Bertrand from 1704 will be played.

Admission to the concerts is from 10.30 a.m. Tickets for 15 euros (reduced 10 euros) are available at all »easy ticket service« ticket offices, by phone or online. (eg)
