“If the world really wants it, it will continue. In any form,” said ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight a few months ago. And that now appears to be more than an empty promise. According to ‘Bloomberg’, Netflix is working on not one, but two spin-offs of the popular series.
The streaming service is still keeping the mystery high for the time being, but is said to have already given ‘Bloomberg’ two short descriptions. A first series would be set in Boston in the mid-twentieth century, several decades after the original story. The second spin-off would again focus on Polly, the matriarch of the Shelby family. It is not yet clear whether this is a sequel or a prequel. What is certain is that viewers will be presented with a different actress in the role of Polly. Helen McCrory, who appeared as the Shelby’s mother in the original series, died of cancer in April 2021.

Creator Steven Knight previously announced that he has ready a script for a feature film in the universe of ‘Peaky Blinders’. However, it is not clear whether and when this will happen. Lead actor Cillian Murphy is in any case open to the idea, he said earlier this month. “I would definitely like to make a film if there is more to tell. I’ll wait, but I don’t have an update yet.”
