VENICE – Even when all of Italy was closed at home and the first wave was in full swing, the Venetian had never registered as many hospitalized as reported yesterday’s evening bulletin of Company Zero: 326 in total. Twenty more than yesterday, eighteen more than the previous peak of 308 admissions registered at 17 of March 31st, in pieno lockdown.

Gods 326 admissions yesterday, record data in the entire narrative of the pandemic and plastic figure of what this second wave means, 29 are located in the intensive care wards of the various hospitals in the Venetian area, 19 are on the mend and are housed in local facilities where they have been transferred from hospitals while the rest, 278 people, lie on a bed of infectious diseases of acute care facilities in the metropolitan area.
But it is not just the absolute number that impresses and worries. The progression in the first days of November gives the exact idea of what the situation is. November 1st Company Zero told 192 hospitalized yesterday 326. In ten days, therefore, there was a decisive surge that resulted in 134 new hospitalizations: in practice, more than 40% of the current people now on a hospital bed entered in this first part of November. If on the one hand the record of 326 hospitalized is the most serious slice of Covid patients, it must also be said that it represents the smallest number of 7.132 currently positive reported by the regional bulletin: 4.57% of the entire group of positives.
Numbers that, however, have prompted the Ulss to close hospitals to all that is not urgent (maximum, within ten days) and to life-saving operations, as in spring.
THE DAY
The briefcases that divided yesterday’s 17 from those of Monday brought another black day on the contagion front as a dowry. The new cases were 499 that made the total amount splash a 12.412 absolute positivity. On the other hand, the number of currently positive ones is down (7,132, -429 if compared to the figure of Monday evening). Said of the hospitalizations (+20 in absolute, -1 in intensive care), the time span between Monday and yesterday recorded another five deaths (423 in all) while there was a new leap forward in isolations, which increased a 3,280: 1,674 positive of which 57 symptomatic. On the other hand, there are 4,857 virological negatives, that is, those recovered. High attention still in the retirement homes, above all Villa Fiorita of Spinea and the Battuti of Mestre
THE MILITARY
Also yesterday, seven army doctors carried out their first round of tampons independently at the Drive through in Mestre and in Noale. In addition to carrying out the actual swabs, the military managed the access of the cars, the waiting and the queue, and also, after the swab, the parking time in the car for the outcome: they carefully organized and takes care of the post-buffer parking and have delivered the report directly into people’s hands, avoiding to let them get out of the car.
“The presence of people in uniform is excellent, which always helps to guarantee order and respect among the people in the queue,” commented Ulss 3, which in any case supported its doctors and nurses with the military. With the arrival of the army doctors, nurses will be freed from the task of tampons, which in turn will be placed in the assistance units or taken back to the ward, where the situation really begins to weigh.
AAA NURSE WANTED
With the start of the regional call, even in the territory of‘Ulss 3 Serenissima the race has begun to include new nurses in their facilities in order to counter the second wave of Covid and the expected peak in hospitalizations for the next few weeks as best as possible.
At the moment the hospital is looking for 150 nurses who will be fished from the regional rankings for qualifications that are being compiled in these days. The new hires – including nurses just out of university, as happened during the spring emergency – will be hired with co.co.co. and they will have to deal with an unprecedented health emergency in the field.
