Peacock Adds Short-Lived Suits Spin-Off ‘Pearson’ to its Streaming Service

Peacock hopes to draw some eyes towards pearsonthe short lived Suits spin-off, after the latter became a surprise hit on Netflix this summer.

The NBCUniversal streamer added the show, starring Gina Torres, to its service today. It is expected that new Suits Fans can also discover the spin-off, which is not available on Netflix.

pearson It aired for one season on the cable network in 2019, but was canceled a month and a half after its season ended.

Headlined by series mothership alum Torres, Pearson focused on her character, powerful lawyer Jessica Pearson, as she enters the gritty world of Chicago politics. She also stars Bethany Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantel Riley, Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree, and Isabel Arraiza.

pearson originated in Suitswhose season 7 finale served as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off.

The offshoot, which comes from Universal Cable Productions, was executive produced by Suits creator and EP Aaron Korsh; Suits EP Daniel Arkin, who served as showrunner; Towers; and Suits Executive producers Doug Liman, David Bartis and Hypnotic’s Gene Klein.

The move will see NBCU try to win over some Netflix subscribers who may have gotten drunk (or are getting drunk) from the main show Suits, which has spent six weeks at the top of the Nielsen charts.

Earlier this summer, the series broke a Nielsen streaming record for acquired programming; it drew 3.1 billion minutes of viewing during the week of June 26 to July 2 on Netflix and Peacock. The show’s first season was also watched for 27.7 million hours on the June 19 w/c after being added to Netflix and remained in that streamer’s top ten for several weeks.

However, don’t expect any more spin-offs any time soon. Suits Creator Aaron Korsh recently revealed that nothing was in the works.
