Peaceful Defense Action for Palestine: National Figures and Artists Rally at Monas, Jakarta

Peaceful defense action Palestine held at Monas, Central Jakarta (Jakpus) today. A number of figures and officials were present calling for Palestinian independence.

The action, which was initiated by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), started at 06.00 WIB and ended at around 10.00 WIB. The following is everything related to the peaceful action in support of Palestine as summarized by detikcom:

Action to Defend Palestine Attended by National Figures and Artists

Several ministers who attended included Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy. Also present were the Chair of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, Amien Rais and Anies Baswedan.

Not only that, a number of interfaith figures were also present at the action to defend Palestine at Monas. Such as general chairs from religious organizations, former General Chairperson (Ketum) of PP Muhammadiyah Prof Din Syamsudin, to Jumhur Hidayat from the labor group.

A number of national artists were also present. Those present were Atta Halilintar, Alvi Affandi, Abidzar, David Halik, Andika Pratama, Indra Brugman, Thariq Halilintar, Taqy Malik. Apart from that, there are also Asila Maisa, Aliya Masaid, Kartika Putri, Syifa Hadju, Rasyid Ali, Fenita Ari, Kiki Varel.

Foreign Minister Retno reads the poem ‘Palestine is my brother’

During the peaceful demonstration to defend Palestine at Monas, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi read a poem entitled ‘Palestine, My Brother’. In this poem, he emphasized Indonesia’s position to continue to defend Palestine from Israeli colonialism.

He was hurt, he couldn’t say
He does not know where his mother’s father is
