Peace formula – UN General Assembly supported Ukraine’s resolution

141 countries voted in favor of the resolution, seven countries voted against and 32 abstained.

The following countries voted against: Belarus, Eritrea, Mali, North Korea, Russia, Nicaragua and Syria. Among the “abstentions” are China, Armenia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by diplomats from 193 UN member states. It was dedicated to the anniversary of the invasion of the aggressor state of Russia into the territory of Ukraine.

Ukraine at the meeting presented its draft, which is called “Principles underlying a comprehensive, just and strong peace in Ukraine.”

It should be recalled that at the UN General Assembly, Russia, unlike the UN Security Council, does not have the right to veto. At the same time, the resolutions adopted at the meeting are not binding in accordance with international law.

This resolution is broader and less detailed than the 10-point peace plan announced by Volodymyr Zelensky at the November G20 summit.

It is noted that such a decision to amend the resolution was made intentionally. It was supposed to help garner maximum support when the resolution was put to a vote.

In addition, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is interested in the fact that all European states and the whole world – India, Africa and China – are also involved in ending the war. He is sure that everyone needs to support the Ukrainian “peace formula”.
