Pdte. Maduro raises vigilance against the increase in Covid-19 cases | News

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called on Venezuelans this Sunday to maintain biosecurity standards in the face of the increase in infections by Covid-19 in the last week.

“We are going to raise the levels of surveillance, patrolling, the megaphone, no one can ride in any bus unit (surface transport), cart by post, Metro, without face masks, without taking care of distance,” said the president.

Maduro urged members of his cabinet to “act” so that commercial and economic activity is active and complies with all measures.





Likewise, he announced the restriction of flights to and from the South American nation, they will only carry out air operations for Turkey, Mexico and Bolivia.

The Venezuelan president announced that from January a radical quarantine will be established for a period of 14 days. However, he did not specify the start date.

He ordered the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, and the minister for Interior Relations, Carmen Meléndez, to take special actions in December to intensify biosecurity measures.

The Venezuelan government reported that 584 new cases of community transmission were registered, for a total of 107,786 cases of Covid-19 infections, while the rate of recovered remains at 95 percent of the total number of infected.

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez explained that the state of Mérida reported the highest number of cases with 140 followed by the capital region with 115 infections.
