Secretary General PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that his party is still working on a candidate for the running mate Ganjar Pranowo. Hasto said Ganjar’s companion would be announced next September by the Ketum PDIP Megawati Sukarnoputri.
“July, August will be the momentum for formulation and then the best combination will be sought, but also looking at electoral aspects. So that the dual unity of Pak Ganjar’s leadership and his deputy who will accompany him will certainly get the greatest support from the Indonesian people so they can win the election,” said Hasto in his statement, Tuesday (4/7/2023).
Hasto said that the vice presidential candidate for Ganjar would be announced directly by Megawati Soekarnoputri in September. The announcement, said Hasto, would be made after discussions with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and all political parties supporting Ganjar.

“So July, August are the months of preparation for maturation. Then September, of course, the authority of the General Chairperson to announce the candidates for the vice president, of course, after coordinating with all the general chairmen of political parties that carry Ganjar and also with President Jokowi,” continued Hasto .
Furthermore, Hasto said his party was waiting for the right moment to announce Ganjar’s running mate. This is because the figure of Ganjar’s cawapres needs to be considered carefully.
“So we wait for the right moment,” he continued.
