TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Secretary General PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto is aware that there are a number of party cadres who are pushing someone to become a presidential candidate or presidential candidate in 2024. One of the parties who shouted the issue was the Chairman of the Solo PDI-P DPC FX Hadi Rudyatmo.
According to Hasto, the former mayor of Solo should know the rules of the game that apply to the PDI-P. “That’s a conversation at the shop for Mr. Rudy. Mr. Rudy is a senior figure,” said Hasto, quoted from a written statement, Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Previously, as reported by several media, FX Rudy stated that he supported Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate for 2024. He also asked cadres who were nicknamed ‘boars’ for supporting Ganjar not to be discouraged.
Hasto said his party still upholds democracy. However, he reminded the discipline of all party policies, especially regarding the 2024 presidential election.
Hasto said, Congress PDIP gave full authority to the Chairperson of the PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates to be carried in the 2024 presidential election. When Megawati had made her decision, she said, all party ranks had to obey.
“PDIP is a democratic party. Everyone understands the culture in the PDI-P. What is important when Megawati makes a decision is that everyone is obedient and disciplined,” said Hasto.
Hasto said PDIP has a mechanism within the party to recruit the best cadres. The party management structure was also asked to consolidate. He also reminded that PDIP as a party has a bigger interest.
“For those who do not understand the strategic aspect of the importance of preparing leaders for the future of the nation and state and only want to act alone without discipline, it is fine if they want to leave the party,” said Hasto.
He said PDIP has a long history and extensive experience in describing democracy of the people, by the people, and for the people. “So in this perspective the party must enforce discipline,” he said.
Hasto also believes that Megawati will choose the right person after hearing the people’s aspirations and contemplating asking God for guidance. Megawati’s task, said Hasto, is not only to choose but also to find the right person to continue the leadership of President Joko Widodo.
“What the party is doing is the continuity of Pak Jokowi’s leadership with his various achievements. It is very important to find the right figure in continuing the leadership relay,” said Hasto Kristiyanto. He asked all parties to be patient because the schedule and stages of the 2024 election had not yet been determined.
