Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The political dynamics of the country ahead of the 2024 Legislative and Presidential and Vice-Presidential General Elections are starting to warm up. Recently, the Secretary General of the Great Indonesia Movement Party, Ahmad Muzani, said that the ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet were released by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to increase their popularity and electability.
In this regard, PDIP DPP Chairman Said Abdullah reminded that since his appointment as minister, the person concerned has sworn to carry out his duties and responsibilities as an assistant to the president. Because, Jokowi promised the people to realize his campaign promises.
“So the task of ministers as assistants to the president is not easy, especially ministers for the economy. Currently our nation is still suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic even though it has shown flattening the curve, but the economic recovery due to the pandemic did not immediately recover, “Said told reporters, Tuesday (9/11/2021).
Ministers for the economic sector, according to him, have a big responsibility and need to work extra hard to restore the national economy. According to Said, by thinking only about the national economic recovery, the ministers of the economy will not have the time, energy and opportunity to think about anything else.
The national economic recovery agenda, Said said, is related to the livelihoods of many people. This attention to the lives of many people, according to him, cannot be combined with work or other matters, such as taking care of the presidential election.
“I guess there will be more gentle if the ministers, especially in the economic field, it is better to step down and take care of their presidential candidacy than to take care of their duties and responsibilities as ministers, as well as take advantage of their position as economy minister to enter the presidential candidacy market,” said the chairman of the Banggar DPR RI.
“The risk is that the choice of programs and policies for the success of President Joko Widodo’s program will be secondary or at least vulnerable to being used for his interests in his candidacy. Of course this is very bad and, if this happens, the President should immediately replace the minister concerned,” he continued.
Said then gave an example of the conflict of interest of one of the economic ministers in Jokowi’s Cabinet. However, he did not mention the figure in question.
“For example, I found a conflict of interest, a minister for the economy posted a video of himself on the Himbara bank ATM screen, I think this is not good. It is appropriate that President Joko Widodo is installed on the ATM screen, not him. Because he is only an assistant to the president. This is just a small example of the conflict of interest,” said Said.
