Jakarta –
Secretary General PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto denied the meeting of 6 general chairmen (ketum) of political parties with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Palace discussed the cawapres. He emphasized that there was no discussion of individual figures at the meeting.
“We’re not talking about figures, we’re not talking about practical politics, we’re talking about policy continuity. Where is it a natural thing for a leader to talk about how future leadership is so that there is continuity of a government’s achievements and how to realize vision for the future,” said Hasto at Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (8/5/2023).
Hasto said, according to what was conveyed by the Ketum PDIP Megawati, the meeting mainly discussed the challenges facing Indonesia in the future. Including discussions on demographic bonuses to infrastructure for relocating the capital city.
“Talking with demography, demographic bonuses, how does this give Indonesia progress going forward, that is a discussion related to the interests of the country. There is no talking about individuals, which is related to winning the 2024 election,” he said
He dismissed the names Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno and BUMN Minister Erick Thohir at the meeting who were predicted to be vice presidential candidates. Hasto emphasized that what was discussed was the interest of the nation.
“That among party leaders, politicians, statesmen, talking individually is not the main thing. The main thing is the policy of the nation and state going forward,” he said.
