Secretary General (Secretary General) PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto rejects the President’s plan to appoint the governor of Jakarta in the Jakarta Special Region Bill (DKJ) which was recently signed as a DPR initiative proposal.
Hasto proposed that the governor of Jakarta, which will no longer be the capital through this bill, still be elected by the people. According to him, the people must still be given the authority to determine their leaders.
“That is what must be captured, including by the PDIP, that regional heads in DKI should be elected by the people because the people are the sovereign,” said Hasto on the sidelines of the TPN Ganjar-Mahfud meeting in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (16/12) .
He believes that even though Jakarta remains a special region after no longer being the capital through the bill, the rules for appointing regional heads should not be changed.
Hasto also responded to the attitude of his party faction in the DPR. PDIP, including eight factions, supports the proposal. He said that political attitudes should naturally move dynamically. However, he emphasized that PDIP will continue to listen to the voice of the community.
“So politics is dynamic, there are several changes in constellations, so in looking at changes in constellations, our most important guideline is the voice of the people who want the Governor of DKI to be elected by the people,” said Hasto.
The DPR Plenary Meeting on Tuesday (5/12) approved the DKJ Bill as a DPR initiative proposal. The bill contains a number of regulations, such as Jakarta no longer being the capital, including the matter of appointing the governor.
