Jakarta – PDIP Secretary General (Sekjen), Hasto Kristiyanto opened his voice regarding President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who was proposed as general chairman to replace Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Hasto said his party would still accept the proposal as input. However, he said that his party is currently still focused on winning the 2024 general election and presidential election.
“Yes, as an idea, of course we accept it as input. But related to PDI Perjuangan, the priority scale is winning the election,” said Hasto to journalists at JiExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Saturday, September 30 2023.

Then, the process of changing the leadership of the PDI Perjuangan general chairman will be discussed after the next election, through the party’s sixth Congress which will be held in 2025. In this forum, he continued, the transition process for changing the general chairman will be determined by the votes of cadres.
“Well, in the congress, sovereignty is in the hands of the members. That is the highest decision-making body, so that is the mechanism that will run within the party,” he said.
For information, President Jokowi’s proposal to become general chairman of the PDI Perjuangan was conveyed by Guntur Soekarno, who is the eldest son of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Sukarno.
“Jokowi’s move to become PDIP General Chair is very possible,” said Guntur.
