Head of the DPC Election Agency (BP) PDI Struggle Surabaya, Anas Karno doubts the results survey Poltracking Indonesia which favored the candidate pair for mayor and deputy mayor Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman Sukirno than its champion Eri Cahyadi-Armuji.
Anas highlighted the significant differences between the Poltracking survey and a number of other survey institutions. For example, the Populi Center and the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (Pusdeham) released recent survey results.
“In the Populi and Pusdeham survey, Eri-Armuji was superior to Machfud-Mujiaman by a difference of 3 percent to 6.5 percent,” said Anas when confirmed, Tuesday (3/11).
Meanwhile, in the Poltracking Indonesia survey, Machfud-Mujiaman obtained electability of 51.7 percent, while Eri-Armuji only received 34.1 percent. That means there is a difference of 17.6 percent.
The next indicator that is also doubtful, said Anas, is the popularity of the candidate for deputy mayor of Mujiaman who is claimed to overtake Armuji. Mujiaman was at 60.2 percent, while Armuji was at 59.6 percent.
“It’s a bit strange for the level of recognition or popularity,” he said.
Armuji even became a legislative member of the PDIP for the East Java Provincial DPRD who won the most cross-party votes during the 2019 Election, for the East Java Election 1. He won 136,308 votes. National said Armuji has long been known by the Surabaya public. Armuji is a PDI Perjuangan cadre who for five consecutive terms has always been elected to the Surabaya DPRD.
“Mr. Armuji is a member of the DPRD for five terms, two terms as Chairman of the Surabaya DPRD, and now the East Java DPRD represents the Surabaya electoral district, which won 136,000 votes in the 2019 elections,” he said.
He also compared the popularity of Armuji to Mujiaman who was new as the President Director of the BUMD Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) Surya Sembada, Surabaya since 2017.

However, Anas still interpreted the Poltracking survey results as input. His party will continue to move to win Eri-Armuji.

Meanwhile, Poltracking Indonesia’s Research Manager, Masduri, said that differences in survey results from one institution to another could occur. To be sure, he admitted that he could be held accountable for the results of his survey in Surabaya.
“This is the result of a survey by Poltracking Indonesia, we have been different, not just this once, but we can account for the results,” said Masduri.
He added that Poltracking Indonesia had conducted many surveys in a number of regions in Indonesia. So far the institution has upheld integrity and credibility.
