A PDIP legislative candidate for Dapil V Wonogiri was in the spotlight after a video of him badmouthing the wife of one of the presidential candidates went viral on social media. The action of the female legislative candidate with the initials EP made the Regent of Wonogiri who is also the Chair of the Wonogiri PDIP DPC, Joko Sutopo, apologize.

The man who is familiarly called Jekek admitted that he had received a report regarding the video that was widely discussed. Jekek admitted that he was concerned about the legislative candidate’s actions.

“I already (found out and saw the video) last night (Tuesday, 26/12/2023),” said Joko Sutopo at the Pendapa of the Wonogiri Regent’s Official House, Wednesday (27/12/2023).

According to him, politics now must be political education. It should not voice elements of SARA, discrimination from election contestants, both party and/or personal election participants.

Jekek admitted that he did not agree with what the legislative candidate said. According to him, this is very different from the political style that has previously been implemented. Jekek also apologized to the public.

“We apologize profusely to the public. Maybe this was an error or maybe it was due to other factors, but we make sure we will immediately invite the person concerned. We will clarify,” said Jekek.
