Indonesian Democratic Party Claims Victory in Most of East Java‘s Provincial Elections
Jakarta, Indonesia – In a triumphant declaration, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has claimed victory in the majority of East Java’s 2024 provincial elections.
Sri Untari Bisowarno, Secretary of the PDIP’s East Java Regional Chapter, announced that according to their own quick counts, PDIP-supported candidate couples won in 21 out of the 38 provinces and cities where elections were held.
"We are deeply grateful to the people of East Java for trusting us," Bisowarno stated in Surabaya on Friday. "This victory in 21 regions is a significant mandate that we will carry out with full responsibility."
Bisowarno attributed the success to the enduring trust the public places in PDIP and the tireless efforts of party members and volunteers.
"This victory shows that the community appreciates the hard work of our staff and volunteers," he said.
While celebrating this triumph, Bisowarno also highlighted some challenges, specifically pointing to potential irregularities during the Blitar City election. He refrained from disclosing specific details but emphasized that PDIP is urging for a re-election in the region to ensure the integrity of the democratic process.
"We cannot remain silent because upholding honest, clean, and honorable elections is paramount. We must honor the support of the Blitar City residents for the candidate pair we are championing," Bisowarno added.
Commenting on the East Java gubernatorial race, where the incumbent Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa secured her re-election alongside her running mate Emil Dardak, Bisowarno acknowledged the pair’s long-standing presence in the political landscape.
"Mrs. Khofifah has the advantage of incumbency and has been preparing for 15 years. However, the performance of Miss Risma [Tri Rismaharini, the other candidate] and Gus Hans [Zahrul Azhar Asumta] in their limited time is truly remarkable," Bisowarno remarked.
The PDIP Secretary concluded by expressing his gratitude to all party members, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to this significant victory. He affirmed the party’s commitment to work diligently for the welfare of the people of East Java.
"We will ensure that regional leaders under PDIP diligently tackle poverty and elevate the quality of life for the community. This is our unwavering priority," Bisowarno stated.
He further promised that PDIP would uphold its commitment to political integrity, prioritizing democratic and ethical values in all its endeavors.
