PDI Perjuangan supports the Prabowo Government

NATIONAL INFORMATION – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is committed to not opposing the government of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the next five years. This was expressed by the General Treasurer of the PDI Perjuangan DPP, Olly Dondokambey.

Olly explained that the decision was announced by the General Chairman of PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri. Megawati has given instructions to support the government of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

The meeting between Megawati and Prabowo was prepared before the inauguration of the President on October 20, 2024. Olly said that the meeting between Megawati and Prabowo would discuss plans for the future of the republic. “In addition, Mother has said that we support the Government of Prabowo,” said Olly, Sunday, October 6 2024.

Olly continued, Megawati believed that such terms as opposition and coalition did not exist in the context of Indonesian politics. “In principle, this collaboration has begun. Mrs. Megawati also confirmed that we do not know the opposition. Therefore, we will work together and support Mr. Prabowo in running the government in the future,” he said.

According to Olly, collaboration with the government has been ongoing since the beginning. He cited the establishment of Puan Maharani as Speaker of the DPR 2024-2029 as clear evidence. “Mbak Puan has been the Chairman of the DPR. All the government programs of Mbak Puan have been demolished. This means that they are running,” said Olly.

Even though it has been decided by line, the Governor of North Sulawesi cannot confirm whether PDIP will get a ministerial position in Prabowo’s cabinet. According to Olly, this depends on the agreement between Megawati and Prabowo. “If Pak Prabowo asks Mother to propose, and she agrees, that is entirely Pak Prabowo’s business,” said Olly.

Puan Maharani responded that PDIP could join Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet with a short statement. “We’ll see in time,” he said. Puan asked the public to wait until October 20 for more decisions regarding this matter, including the names of PDI Perjuangan officials who are said to be entering the cabinet.

The chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Said Abdullah, also gave a response regarding the news of the inclusion of high-ranking PDIP officials in Prabowo’s cabinet. According to Said, the names that have been widely mentioned as people likely to enter the executive levels of the central government, such as Olly Dondokambey, Azwar Anas and Budi Gunawan, are still waiting for a decision from Megawati.

The President-elect who is also the General Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, also announced plans for a meeting with Megawati. He confirmed that the event would be held before the inauguration on October 20. However, he was not willing to give more information on when this meeting would be held. “God willing (he will meet),” Prabowo said.

Plans for Megawati to meet with Prabowo have been circulating since the Defense Minister was nominated as president by the General Election Commission (KPU) in April 2024. However, this conversation has not materialized so far. .

In the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election, PDIP nominates former Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, against Prabowo who is with Gibran – son of President Joko Widodo and Anies Baswedan – Muhaimin Iskandar, General Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB).

After the KPU confirmed the president-elect and vice-president, several parties came to the winner. They are NasDem Party, PKB, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), United Development Party (PPP), and Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo). Only PDIP has not announced that it has joined Prabowo. At the same time, the Hanura Party follows the stance of the PDIP according to its promise in forming a coalition.
