PDI-P Secretary General Surprised by Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s Debate Performance in Presidential Election

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PDI-P Secretary General (Sekjen) Hasto Kristiyanto admitted that he was surprised to see the appearance of vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the fourth debate of the presidential election (Pilpres) on Sunday (21/1/2024) evening.

Hasto said that Gibran experienced a change in character so that he did not look like his father, namely President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“First, I was a bit surprised by the change in Mas Gibran’s character so that he was very different from Mr Jokowi,” said Hasto when met at the JCC, Jakarta, Sunday.

Hasto assessed that Gibran was influenced by presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto who was emotional.

He suspected that Prabowo’s emotional nature had rubbed off on Gibran.

“In fact, the influence of Pak Prabowo, who tends to be emotional, actually influenced Mas Gibran so that the MK (Constitutional Court) decision regarding the age limit of 40 turned out to be a very important thing, because it determines a person’s emotional maturity,” said Hasto.

Hasto also touched on Gibran who said that Mining Business Permits (IUP) from illegal mines were revoked.

In fact, according to him, illegal mining definitely does not have an IUP.

“For example, when we look at illegal logging, illegal mining, Mas Gibran answered ‘yes, the IUP has been revoked’. Even though this is illegal without an IUP. Well, things like this are what we really regret,” said Hasto.
