PD Reminds Jokowi to Be Wary of Camping at IKN: Different Natural Forests

Jakarta

The chairman of the East Kalimantan Democratic Party DPD, Irwan, appreciated the plan of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to camp at the zero point of IKN Nusantara. However, Irwan reminded Jokowi to stay alert.

“Of course we appreciate Pak Jokowi’s plan to camp, spend the night at IKN, by bringing high state officials as well and the governor, it’s actually a good symbol that he is serious,” Irwan told reporters, Sunday (13/2/2022).

Even so, Irwan asked Jokowi and his entourage to always be alert and alert when camping. He said that various plants in the East Kalimantan forest have endemics that are different from other areas.

“It is also necessary to remind the presidential entourage to remain vigilant and alert, especially regarding the security of camping because camping in a plantation forest is different from camping in natural forests. there are in East Kalimantan such as Ulin, Meranti, Kapur, Tesak. So this is what we have to remind,” he said.

Irwan said that there have been several cases of accidents that happened to nature lovers while camping in the East Kalimantan forest. He said there were people who died because they were hit by a fallen forest tree.

“In some cases, many of our younger siblings who are nature lovers, because they don’t understand the characteristics of the camping area, die from falling trees, and so on,” he said.

Then Irwan asked that the president’s security be considered during the camp. He hoped that Jokowi and his entourage’s camping activities would run safely and smoothly.

“I think this should be a consideration for the president’s security because they are camping in industrial forest plantations. Remember, these trees are planted, so of course the treatment is different, so the security is this. We didn’t know that suddenly there was a hurricane and it was very dangerous for the group,” he said. Irwan.
