Pd in chaos, Schlein in Naples but De Luca ruins the anti-Meloni party – Il Tempo

Elly Schlein in Naples speaks of a “no” from the Democratic Party “with a single strong voice” to differentiated autonomy, but in Naples the voice that Vincenzo De Luca sends makes even more noise. Campania has been the real grain of the dem secretary for months. In the Quartieri Spagnoli Schlein, after an obligatory stop at the Maradona mural, closes the two days organized by the dem with the cry of ‘one and indivisible’ and attacks Giorgia Meloni and her government. The bill wanted by the executive, “wants to divide a country that needs to be mended”, reiterates the leader who provokes her opponents and tries to divide the majority. Not only autonomy, however. The dem secretary reiterates the line also with regard to reforms, denouncing “the pact of power” signed by the government “with a horrid barter”: presidentialism for the Calderoli bill.

The controversies, however, overwhelm the Pd itself. The absence of Vincenzo De Luca and his son Piero from the Neapolitan two-day event weighs heavily. The distance between the two and the secretary is linked to the debate on the possible third term of the Governor of Campania and the choice not to confirm his son as the vice-presidency of the group in Montecitorio. Stefano Bonaccini and Antonio Decaro try to call everyone to unity: “I hope that what may have appeared as differences in recent weeks can be reconciled as soon as possible, because we need De Luca – the dem president and governor of the Emilia Romagna – You can have different ideas but you have to look for unity in the name of things to do, to be tonic and beat the right”.

“Unfortunately I didn’t see the whole party here today, so I feel like making an appeal to everyone to overcome internal divisions – echoes the president of Anci and mayor of Bari – De Luca’s absence is a burden and we cannot pretend it doesn’t exist. The absence exists and must be overcome”. Schlein chooses to gloss over the subject, even if the ‘firefighters’ – such as the organization manager dem Igor Taruffi – are at work. “Unity – the leader simply says – is a value above all when it is accompanied by the coherence of a vision and of the battles we wage together”.
