PC Outperforms Xbox Series X and PS5: Activision Blizzard’s Q2 2023 Financial Report

In its Q2 2023 financial report, Activision Blizzard stated that PC is currently a more profitable platform than Xbox Seris X and PS5.

According to the publisher, for 6 months of this year, the profit from the PC amounted to 1.25 billion dollars. For comparison: all consoles combined for the same period earned 1.19 billion dollars. However, even the PC platform could not be compared with the mobile one. The mobile platform is Activision Blizzard’s “golden cow” to date, as it generated $1.9 billion.

In case you’re wondering, the success on both mobile and PC isn’t solely due to the Diablo series. Interestingly, more players play Call of Duty on PC than on Playstation and Xbox.

And while Call of Duty is loaded with microtransactions, you can at least say that on a technical level, its PC version was pretty good. What’s more, Modern Warfare 2 has been ranked among the most optimized PC games of 2022. And as for Diablo 4, it works without problems on a wide variety of PC configurations.

Activision Blizzard is the second publisher for which PC is superior to consoles. Capcom also stated that PCs are currently more profitable than consoles. And, as we all know, almost all Capcom games run great on PC.

Microsoft’s comments about COD are also funny. Microsoft said it was a mistake for Call of Duty to abandon Steam. And, in a way, these numbers prove that MS was right (since the latest COD games are released simultaneously on Steam and Battlenet).
